How a Stay Works

How Payments Work
Before check-in
- 1.Reserve: read the quote and the full charge schedule, sign, save a card
- 2.The host accepts, declines, or proposes different dates
- 3.14 days before check-in, the first period is charged to your card
During your stay
- 1.Your first period reaches the host 48 hours after check-in, once you have arrived
- 2.Each later period is charged on the day it starts
- 3.The final period is exactly the nights left, never a full month you do not stay

If a charge fails
We retry and email you to update your card. A first period not collected within 72 hours cancels the booking at no cost to you. A later period not collected within 5 days of its start is treated as you ending the stay with notice from that day.
Cancellation Policies
The rules depend on the state the room is in. Your listing, your quote, and your Stay Agreement all show which model applies. Every refund goes back to the card that was charged.

Actual loss
Free cancellation until your first payment runs, 14 days before check-in. Used in states that require the host to mitigate.

You are refunded every night you have not stayed, automatically, and no later period is charged. Host cancellations count against the host.
